This publication is in close collaboration with the photographer Pietro Calligaris,
“Fogotten Animals it’s a publication born out of the sense of freedom I regained thanks to the animals and nature as I moved to the Netherlands.”
In the past, animals were close companions of human beings. They have been sharing environments and experiences that made them grow and learn together. As far as globalization and capitalism spread, we gradually lost our connection to the animal world inside and outside of ourselves. We put a line of separation in our cities, where only certain kinds of animals are allowed. Is there any glimpse of that connection in today's industrialized world? What is the price in exchange for a bigger-scale production of animals and animal products? What if we get closer to each other once again and discover the forgotten animals? Who are the forgotten animals: they or us?
